Consistent ratings from multiple providers

Resolve identity and rating scales without silently merging different items.

Task

Design an ingestion system that combines film ratings from several providers. Titles differ in spelling and language, remakes can share a title, and providers use different rating scales. Consumers need a consistent aggregated rating with traceable source values.

Requirements

  • Retain provider IDs, original titles, release years, rating scales, and ingestion versions.
  • Separate entity matching from rating normalization. Ambiguous matches need a review path.
  • Define how source ratings are combined; do not average incompatible scales without a declared transformation.
  • Include provenance, corrections, replay, quality checks, and a published canonical dataset.
